Venus Brightstar is the daughter of an Aztec Mother and a Ma-Chis Father. Her native name is Tewenaweta Teioswathe meaning Venus Star in the Cayuga language. Venus was spiritually adopted by the clan mother of the Ball Deer Clan of the Cayuga Nation, Grandmother Isabel Maracle.
